DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) -- A new impact study shows a casino could secure more than 2,000 jobs in Danville.

Convergence Strategy Group, a casino and resort planning service, presented the study to city council this week.

They estimate a casino could bring in a revenue stream of up to $363 million depending on its size and location.

The study showed more than 2,000 jobs and a payroll ranging from $47 million to $75 million is projected.

The company also factored in crime and found no impact would be felt.

Gov. Ralph Northam signed a bill in March directing the Joint Legislative and Review Commission to conduct a comprehensive study of casino gaming regulations for review by December 1. He also established a Lottery Board to regulate casino gaming in Virginia.

The city says they'll work with Convergence to vet out potential casino proposals.
