Wynn Resorts to pay employees through mid-May

by Administrator

Wynn Resorts indicated Wednesday it will pay its employees through the middle of next month.

In a news release, the company said all salaried, hourly and part-time employees will continue to receive pay through May 15. Employees who receive tips will receive an average of what they would normally receive in tips as well.

On March 17, the company closed its Wynn Las Vegas and Encore casino resorts on the Strip due to health concerns over the circulating coronavirus after announcing the closures two days prior.

Wynn was the first Strip corridor resort company to announce closures because of COVID-19 concerns.

It’s unclear when Wynn’s Las Vegas properties — or any properties on the Strip for that matter — will open again.

A 30-day directive from Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak to close all casinos was recently extended to run at least through April.

“It is our shared responsibility to follow the direction of health and safety professionals to stay home and limit social contact,” said Wynn CEO Matt Maddox in a statement. “We owe it to each other, our families and to our community.”

The payroll extension affects about 15,000 Wynn employees, the company said.
